More than a Technical Massage School: A HEALING Massage School
Before you embark on a massage therapy career, interview any successful massage therapist with 10 years of experience.
What they will tell you is that to have a lasting and successful private massage practice, you need more than basic technical massage school training.
You’ll need massage training, HEALING massage training, communication and empathy skills, massage business skills and to work on yourself extensively.
Why? It’s your ability to create tangible healing results for your clients, to communicate empathetically, to be fully “present” with your clients, and even to be able to ask for money and get referrals that make the difference between a successful massage therapist and a dropout.
Our San Francisco massage therapy school has been addressing all these issues that are critical to healing and business success for decades.
We’ve never found a school that does it as thoroughly and (w)holistically as we do!
You Have Many Choices
And by the way, our San Francisco massage therapy school students attend either full or part time, days or evening-weekends.
Take one course at a time, a brief intensive or a full program.
You may even design your own massage program–no “cookie cutter” training offered here.
Our commitment to access to education means we keep our pricing incredibly affordable and can show you how to graduate debt-free!
Have a Successful Private Massage Practice!
The Issue: Did you know that according to the nation’s largest massage association, the ABMP, 77 percent of all successful long-term massage therapists have a private practice rather than work as employees?
Did you also know that most Bay Area massage schools only provide employment massage training rather than prepare you for success in private practice?
Our Massage School is one of only a handful of schools that provides you the massage programs and massage training you need for a sustainable and financially prosperous private practice!
And while there are a few that do, we’re the only one’s who’ve been testing our specialized massage business training for decades.
Receive an Authentically (w)Holistic Education
World School has been at the forefront of education in the holistic movement since it began in San Francisco over 30 years ago.
We don’t just use the term (w)holistic because we teach massage, we use the term because our entire education is designed to support the full range our our students needs for health of body, mind and spirit.
Many schools offer training in holistic practices and call themselves “holistic”. Yet by definition, an actual “holistic education” does much more than that.
That’s why we have courses in empathy and communication, mindfulness, stress management, nutrition, fitness, psychology, self-healing, thought-emotion repatterning, leadership and more.
As a starting point, we see our students and clients as “whole and complete,” i.e., no one is broken or in need of “fixing” or “treatment.”
Therefore, we don’t suppress symptoms, we facilitate release of the root issues so that sustainable solutions are found.
By (w)holistic, we are aware that our clients are connected to larger circles of family and friends and that these always need to be considered too.
Therefore, we consider the (w)hole range of client needs, not just their presenting issues.
In practice, a authentically (w)holistic education means that when it comes to our students, we consider far more than the development of their massage skills; we empower the transformation of their (w)hole being because it’s (w)hole beings who are most able to give others access to greater levels of (w)holeness as well.
Integrative Massage Practice
Many years ago, World School began teaching students how to blend all the massage therapies together into a fluid and integrated solution for producing client healing results.
Only recently, the ABMP, the nation’s largest massage therapy association got on the bandwagon with us. Here’s what they published by author Rick Rosen
Many massage programs fail to provide integration among its various courses, and students are left to their own devices to assemble what they’ve learned into a coherent model.
In addition, there are a number of schools where hands-on modalities are taught as a collection of strokes without the benefit of an organizing form.
This can create a random and ineffective approach to massage treatment…Students need time to take in the material, anchor the new knowledge/skill, and integrate it into their developing structure.
World School of Massage San Francisco is one of the few schools in the country which provides massage programs that include the integration of different massage therapies into a cohesive whole; a whole that ensures that your client sessions facilitate healing rather than leave your client bewildered by disjointed and disintegrated dis-therapies. Any school that isn’t doing this is just another massage mill.
